Keyboarding Assessment:  2-Minute Test -- Homerow + enutrocipvWisconsin's Department of Pubic Instruction recommends that students learn to key at 5 times their grade level.  Fourth Grade Goal:  20 wpm

    2. Spelling Practice   Select a level and then listen to each word and then drag and drop the letters to correctly spell it.  There's a hungry purple monster that wants to eat the vowels when you're done.
    3. Super Word Toss:  Synonyms and Antonyms  This fun game lets you practice matching synonyms and antonyms.  Chose the type of game you want to play and then the level.
    4. Turtle Dash:  Spelling with Vowels.  Fill-in missing vowels to complete words as fast as you can race your turtles.
    5. Verb Viper:  Subject/Verb agreement.  Click the right verb tense when it comes into the snake's striking zone.

    1. Base 10 Fun  Select from ones, tens and hundreds. The activity also features three different modes of play: Read and Make, Listen and Make, or Count and Write.
    2. Division Drag Race  Use your mouse to select answers for division problems to propel your racecar to victory.
    3. Dirt Bike Division  Can you quickly select equivelent fractions and race your bike to victory?
    4. Equivalent Fraction Bingo  Choose your skill level and then see if you  can find equivelent fractions on your card to earn a Bingo!
    5. Feed Me Fractions!  Adding Fractions with the Same Denominator.  Select two fractions that add to the number 1 and watch the monster grow! Help the monster reach full size as fast as you can!
    6. Fraction Fling  Use the mouse to sling rocks at the fraction in the diagram.
    7. Fraction Splat  Click on the target type of fraction while avoiding the others. How fast can you do it?
    8. Fractone  Click on the fraction squares to make pairs that have a sum of 1... and do it as fast as you can!
    9. Gran Prix Multiplication  Use your mouse to move your racecar by solving multiplication equations.
    10. Hungry Puppies:  Adding Decimals.  Choose your level and then use your mouse to make a number using decimal addition to feed your puppy.
    11. Jet Ski Addition  Race against other players, using your mouse to add numbers and propel your jet ski to victory.
    12. Math Lines  Use your mouse to shoot the marble and add together two numbers to equal various sums.
    13. Puppy Chase Decimals  Compete against others as you click on the decimal equivelent to fractions and send your puppy to victory.
    14. Slide to the Top  This game is based on number lines.  Choose Fractions, Fractions & Decimals, or Fractions, Decimals, and Percents and then drag and drop the circles into number line order.

  2. Glencoe's Online Keyboarding. These are the folks that wrote the book -- typing books for generations of keyers. These lessons will carefuly help you review and build skills.
  3. Keyboard Tutorial & Typing Test. Great site to review or learn keying. When you are ready, there is a section to practice composing at the keyboard and then practicing your text.
  4. Learn Keyboard Typing. Great site -- 13 online lessons -- you will move through them quickly. This site is great for a typing "tune-up".
  5. Learn to Type Online. This course has 5 lessons to introduce keys -- maybe too fast for a beginner (but maybe not). This site is a great review for those needed a "tune-up".
  6. Peters Online Typing Course.  A comprehensives and well-done program. This one will work for you if you work it.
  7. Retro Typer (Begin with lesson 1:  asdf jkl;)
  8. Speed Typing Online. Even if you have learned the basics, try this website's quick "tune-up". You can be a speed-typist too.
  9. Typing Club. Begin with home row and then add 2 keys per lesson -- very managable and effective.
  10. Typing Lessons. This site does a fantastic job of breaking the keyboard into short, simple lessons. Highly recommended, especially for those just getting started.
  11. Typing Test Online. Use this site to check your progress -- watch your skills grow.
  12. Touch Typing Online.  If other online programs add new keys too fast, try this one -- it carefully breaks your practice into manageable groups.
  13. Edit Pad.  This online text editor is a useful tool -- we use it to dictate keys so that I can check how comfortably students are learning the "touch method."

Part C.  Show Your Stuff!  Have you got it?  Is this easy?  Please open the following MS Word documents and key each of the drills.  Be sure to KEY YOUR NAME at the top (were you see XXXX) and then click below each practice line and key it TWICE, returning (ENTER key) after the first time through.
